"The focus of most of my art, jewelry, light fixtures, and sculpture, is Northwest Coast Native Art. I like to work in these styles: Tlinget, Haida, Kwaguitl, West Coast (Nootka), Tsimshian, and Salish. Each style has a unique approach to form lines, ovoids, and u-forms, and how they flow together to give expression to animal images. My interest in Alaskan Native and British Columbia First Nations art and culture was peaked by boat trips with my family as a child through Southeast Alaska and British Columbia. I lived and worked in Alaska teaching jewelry and fossil ivory carving techniques at the University of Alaska Juneau in the 1980s. I work in silver, gold, abalone, bronze, copper, glass, & wood, and like to combine these materials with others as well."
